KIPC 2022: Summary of Events

 Course packs will be available for collection at Registration on the first day.

This is intended as a guide in advance of the Courses- times may change so it is important to listen carefully at the briefings and tutorials.

Thursday 17th

·       Registration starts at 8.30 am on the first floor of the Music School- enter by London Rd entrance and the Music School is on the left just past the shop. It will all be signed;

·       Meet in the meeting room at 9 for a briefing, then group tutorials begin at approximately 9.15. Details of your groups, times and locations will be sent to you shortly, and tutors and guides will show the way!

Friday 18th:

·       Registration will be at 8.50 and there will be a short meeting at 9am;

·        Lunchtime informal concert- this will begin at approximately 1.20 pm and last for about 75 minutes. All are to attend; some will play (see below) and parents/ friends are welcome at no cost. It is hoped that players will be announced at the end of the first day;

·       Festival classes will begin after the break in the afternoon; but there will be a gap between the end of these and the start of the concerts- parents of young children might wish to meet their children and/ or organise a snack for them;

·       At 6.00 pm, 2 concerts, of equal standard, will run in different halls at the same time. Details of these will be announced, although players can only be announced on the 2nd day. All should attend; parents/ friends are most welcome for a charge of £5.00, payable on the door.

Saturday 19th

·       Registration for Senior and Advanced Members only at 9.00 am;

·       Intermediate Members arrive at 12.30 pm, have lunch and continue their Festival Classes;

·       All to attend the final masterclass at approximately 3.30;

·       There will be a short break before that masterclass and the Final Concert and Prizegiving at 5.30, which will be in the presence of 2 local mayors and other distinguished guests and at which Mr. Freddie Kempf, international artist, will give a mini-recital. Your own guests will be most welcome at this lovely occasion for a charge of £10.00 (£5.00 for concessions), payable on the door. We are still confirming the feasibility of the usual end-of-courses party in the light of the Covid situation, however the day should end between 8.00 and 8.30pm.

Refreshments

We have given much thought to this issue, and had to plan it whilst restrictions were in place. The arrangements are as follows:

·       Tea, coffee, squash and water will be available at the mid-morning, lunch and afternoon breaks for everyone at no additional charge;

·       A pre-packed light lunch (typically a sandwich, packet of crisps and chocolate bar or fruit, will be available at no extra charge to those who opt for this on the website (a facility will be made available shortly). It is essential that any dietary needs are made clear;

·       Please note that we will not be able to serve refreshments at the end of classes and before concerts on the Friday or Saturday.
